Gunship profile for Saitek Cyborg by Tim Huntington 9/2001 timh615@earthlink.net I've included the Cyborg config file as an attachment. I delayed getting back to you because I thought I should write some words about how in general to set up a joystick to play/fly as CP/G for those who want to try this with other types of joystick. Please feel free to use any of this on your site if you want. Playing Gunship! as CP/G is really fun (I _never_ play as pilot!). By letting some else (the computer) be the bus driver, you spend your time fighting and implementing strategy (via the map screen). To do this I divide the commands I need on the joystick into two classes, those that I use very frequently (i.e. every few seconds) and those that are used every few minutes. The high-use commands are programmed for the hat switch. These high-use commands are either targeting commands or commands to the pilot. For targeting, zoom-in and zoom-out are hat switch up and down. Radar targeting is hat switch left-right (i.e. previous/next target). For commands to the pilot, the most important by far is the "Go this Way" command. This is on the hat switch as shift-up. Shift down is hover. These two commands let me fly where I want and stop (e.g. behind cover) where I want. The rest of the buttons on the joystick itself (i.e. thumb buttons) are to change views between IHADSS and ORT and to select/fire weapons. The lower-use commands to the pilot are on the base of the stick. These are for the speed of the helicopter (1/3,2/3,max) and autopilot ("w"). I've noticed that if you start targeting the game AI assumes you don't want to move so I often have to remind the AI to move towards the next waypoint by hitting autopilot (w). I used to have a next waypoint command (tab-1-6-3-tab-tab) but with the new patch I only need the autopilot command. One button on the base of the stick is for go down and go up ("-" and "="). To go up you need to use the shift key on this button, so it's hard to accidentally rise above your cover. I find I have to keep using this button to keep low as the AI tends to drift up. I never use the "popup" or "break to cover" commands. On the base of the stick there is also a command to get to the map screen for moving/deleting waypoints. I hope this information is useful to somebody who wants to play the game as CP/G.
